Abstract art serves as one of the most iconic versions of art, not taken literally based on the piece’s appearance. The viewer interprets a deeper, underlying message from the art, making it as complex as the interpreter and or artist desires. Abstract art opposes realism, as one important trait of abstract art includes the freedom and expressiveness that Realism limits. Pablo Picasso, one of the most famous artist of the twentieth century, completed the piece below. Although this form of art carries less prestige in our society than presented in earlier years, abstract remains a major focal point of art and a great way to separate from Realism to express thoughts and feelings in a figurative way.
