State Championship

Wrestlers from Madison County High School’s wrestling team competed in the State Tournament February 7-10 for a State Title at the Macon Centerplex in Macon, Georgia.

Josh Kincaid, Heath Sexton, Rowan Smith, Jaxon Hoetzel, Jerry Dobbyn, and Hamilton Cooper reigned as the spectacular six who wrestled at the Georgia state tournament. Kincaid went 3-1, coming in second place to Woodward’s Nick Masters, ranked fourth in the nation. Kincaid had two pins and a decision to get into the finals. Hamilton Cooper also went 3-1, winning a close match in the semifinal round. Unfortunately, he lost his finals match by a close decision.

Heath Sexton and Jerry Dobbyn both lost out on the first day. Rowan Smith and Jaxon Hoetzel both lost out on the second day. This involves one of the only times two people represented Madison County in the State finals. Madison County high

school’s wrestling program shows a strong future for next year.
