On November 29th, 2018, the Madison County FFA Forestry Team competed in the County level CDE (Career Development Event) for Forestry at the UGA Whitehall School Forest. The Senior Team consisted of Cory Yarbrough, Nathan Nissley, Erin Temple, and Matthew Parker. Joey Vieira was the only middle schooler attending the competition, so he competed as an individual. At the CDE, both of the teams had to complete four events. The events consisted of a series of hand compass, timber cruising, timber stand improvement, and tree identification.

At the end of the day, the senior team placed second out of the eleven teams that competed. Cory Yarbrough placed first highest individual. Nathan Nissley placed second highest individual. Joey Vieira placed eleventh highest individual. The Senior Team qualified to compete in the State level for their CDE. They will travel to the State competition on February 8th and 9th at the Fort Valley State University.
