On February 1-3, Madison County High Schools band took a weekend trip full of magic and fun to Orlando Universal Studios. As they improved their performances, they grew closer as a band family.

The band performed a piece based off the Doctor Seuss story The Lorax, Jaycelen Sexton remarked, “I had a pretty cool oboe solo at the beginning. The sound crew took all the sound out of the movie, so that it allowed our song to be played over the movie. There were also speaking parts and special effects that were performed by our colorguard and band directors”. The Universal Studio offered the band a real chance to make the production one of their own.

Fortunately, the band sets aside time for more than practicing for the magical performance. Arriving at Universal Studios around nine o’clock every day,  they earned the opportunity to roam around the park, enjoying the rides, food, and themselves.

Junior Ethan Hughes commented on the adventure, “The trip was worth the weekend, yeah, my feet hurt from all the walking, but I loved spending the weekend with my friends. Gave us a real chance to become closer.”

Overall, the band enjoyed the amazing weekend filled with excitement, fun, and bonding with their band family. They also performed for a well known production, giving them the opportunity to gain more experience in live shows and special effects.
